We are thrilled to announce the introduction of two new futsal teams for the 2025 edition of our national competition, the Ford Futsal Super League: The Rapids Women, our premier team, and the Surge Women, a vital stepping stone for emerging talent.
This initiative is designed to enhance the competitive landscape of futsal while providing players with opportunities to develop their skills and showcase their potential.
The Rapids Women: A Team of Excellence
Leading the charge for the Rapids Women is Lilly Muspratt, a seasoned player with extensive experience in the Ford Futsal Super League (FFSL) and a proud member of the national team setup. Lilly’s leadership and expertise will be instrumental as we aim for excellence on the national stage. Joining her is Keenan Howard, another accomplished FFSL player, whose skills and competitive spirit will further strengthen our top team. Together, they embody the dedication and talent that define the Rapids Women, setting high standards for performance and teamwork.
The Surge Women: A Pathway to Development
In contrast, the Surge Women will serve as an essential development team under the guidance of Cliff Harris, WaiBOP's Futsal Development Manager. Cliff brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role, ensuring that players receive comprehensive training and mentorship. Assisting him is Alex Eaglestone, who has recently returned from leading the Waikato Rapids U15 Girls to national Youth Futsal Championship glory. This team’s focus will be on nurturing young talent, and providing them with a competitive environment where they can refine their skills and prepare for future challenges.
